Project Description: Research has implicated childhood trauma and maltreatment as significant risk factors for psychopathology. One potential mechanism linking these events is the possible alteration of fear learning and extinction following childhood trauma and maltreatment. However, to date, no meta-analysis has assessed differences in fear conditioning related to childhood trauma. The current meta-analysis examines associations between childhood trauma and maltreatment and fear conditioning responses in studies of children and adolescents.
